The evening raffles and auctions at the 2019 Mt Washington Backcountry Ski Festival will benefit Granite Backcountry Alliance and Friends of Tuckerman Ravine!
In the last two years, the Mt Washington Backcountry Ski Festival has raised over $5,000 for Granite Backcountry Alliance and Friends of Tuckerman Ravine. These non profits are doing great work for the backcountry skiing and riding community in New Hampshire and Maine. It's a natural fit, so all funds raised at the 2019 evening raffles and auctions will be going directly to these two organizations.
In addition to the evening events, both organizations will be hosting social hours at Ragged Mountain Equipment in Intervale (NH) with beer provided by Moat Mountain Brewing Company:
- Saturday March 9 - social hours hosted by Friends of Tuckerman Ravine from ~ 3:30-5:30 PM
- Sunday March 10 - social hours hosted by Granite Backcountry Alliance from ~ 3:00-5:00 PM
Check out their websites for upcoming events, recent work (including new glades), and more info:

Granite Backcountry Alliance
The goal of Granite Backcountry Alliance is to advance the sport of backcountry skiing in New Hampshire and Western Maine by providing low-impact human-powered backcountry skiing opportunities to the public through the creation, improvement and maintenance of ski glades.
New Hampshire and Western Maine are blessed with a rich ski history that includes a deep heritage of backcountry skiing from Mt. Washington’s Tuckerman Ravine to the many ski trails developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) of the 1930’s (some of which still remain today). The celebration of the sport of skiing is embedded in the culture of the area.
While backcountry skiing’s resurgence has captivated a new user base, it is also now a measurable, undeniable force in the industry and is the fastest growing segment of the sport. The demand is strong but the terrain in New Hampshire and Western Maine is limited by the tree density, glade supply, and legal access to the forests and mountains.
GBA resolves to improve the playing field for backcountry skiers. Creating and developing ski glades, however, is not the only objective of the group. Improving the foundation of the sport is critical to future success, such as creating partnerships and collaboration with public and private landowners, education regarding safety and ecological awareness, and creating a unified culture – one that respects the land and its owners and does not permit unauthorized cutting.
We are part of a movement of human-powered activities that is the basis for an emerging outdoor economy. We believe this movement has broad implications on areas like NH's North Country and it can develop with committed folks like yourself . It's the last frontier! So join us by stepping up to support the cause; the ability to organize is a powerful tool to steward our own future.
Moat Mountain Brewing Co.
Open since 2000, Moat Mountain Smoke House is a 174-seat brewpub, restaurant, and inn located in one of North Conway's most historic buildings. In addition to our flagship location, we recently restored the Limmer Barn in Intervale, NH, opening the Moat Mountain Brewing Company Brewery Barn and Cannery in 2013.
The Brewery Barn and Cannery provides year-round availability of many of our brews in both draft and 16-ounce cans. And, we continue to brew right at the Smoke House, focusing on more specialty ales and lagers for our guests to enjoy on site.
The Smoke House is open 7 days a week, starting at 11:30 am, and offers first come-first seating dining room service in addition to our full-service bar. Due to the nature of the local zoning at the Brewery Barn public tours are not available there at this time. Cheers!
